Replacing a Lost ARC and Reporting a New Address
The Alien Registration Card (ARC) is a mandatory ID document for any foreigner staying in Korea longer than 90 days. Here is how to handle a lost or damaged card, and what to do after moving house.
Reissuing a lost or damaged ARC
- Apply for reissuance at the Immigration Office covering your place of residence
- Bring your passport, an ID photo, and the reissuance fee
- If the card was lost, it is advisable to first file a lost-item report at a police station
Reporting a new address after moving
- By law, you must report your new address within 14 days of moving in
- This can be done in person at the Immigration Office; some areas also allow it at the local district (dong) administrative office, or online if you are eligible for electronic registration
- Bring your lease agreement or another document proving your new residence
Note
Failing to report on time can result in an administrative fine, so handle it soon after moving. Booking an appointment in advance through Hi Korea is recommended to avoid long waits.
